Care Information

General Jewelry
Be sure to remove jewelry before sports, manual tasks and bathing. Perfumes and cosmetics can damage jewelry; apply make-up before putting on jewelry. Pieces should be regularly inspected for damage. Jewelry is best stored in a cloth-lined box that prevents movement and scratching; anti-tarnish strips may be placed inside a jewelry box to reduce discoloration.
Gold and Silver
Use jewelry polishing cloths, as tissue or paper products will cause scratches. Tarnish may be removed with a jewelry cleaner, or soapy water and a soft brush.
Metals
Remove grime with rubbing alcohol, or soapy water and a brush. Buff after cleaning with a soft brush.
Gemstones
Remove grime using soapy water and a soft brush. Avoid abrasive jewelry cleaners or other harsh chemicals.
Pearls
As an organic substance, pearls are soft and susceptible to damage. Clean carefully using very mild soapy water.
Gunmetal/Hematite
Clean using a damp cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid abrasive jewelry cleaners or other harsh chemicals.
Vintage Bags
Like all bags, vintage pieces should be cleaned and repaired according to their composition. Use care with cleaners, as harsh products can damage older materials.
Leather Products
Use a damp cotton cloth to remove oil and grease from everyday wear; a leather spray will also aid in day-to-day protection. Stains can be removed with chalk – crush into a powder and leave on the stain overnight, then remove using a soft cloth. For long term care, apply a leather cleaner once or twice per year, and always avoid water submersion and alcohol-based cleaning products.
Cashmere Products
Professional dry cleaning is recommended. To clean at home, you may wash by hand in lukewarm water using a wool washing liquid. Do not rub or wring the garment. Rinse in clean water and dry gently with a cotton towel.
Silk Products
Professional dry cleaning is recommended. To clean at home, wash by hand in warm water using a gentle detergent. Gently dry with a cotton towel. To avoid wrinkles, roll the garment for storage. You may iron the garment, damp, using steam and the lowest heat setting. Avoid direct sunlight and direct application of harsh chemicals such as those in perfume.
Vintage Jewelry
Like all jewelry, vintage pieces should be cleaned according to their composition, stored to avoid extreme temperatures and scratching, and removed before performing household talks. Be vigilant of moisture which leads to rust damage and lack of luster.
